Liverpool star Salah has been in stunning form for the Reds this season, bagging a huge 43 goals from 47 appearances.
The 25-year-old left Roma back in the summer for huge £34million but has already paid back his transfer fee by firing the Reds to a first Champions League final since 2007.
Yet Spanish outlet Diario Gol say Barcelona were also offered the chance to sign the 25-year-old.
However, the Catalan giants instead snubbed a transfer in favour of re-signing Gerard Deulofeu from Everton - despite the Spaniard toiling at Goodison Park.
That mistake has worked in Liverpool’s favour with the Merseyside giants now in possession of one of the best players on the planet.
And technical secretary Robert Fernandez is the man they can thank for that.
It is claimed by Diario Gol that he was the one who believed Deulofeu was a better fit for Barcelona than Salah.
Yet fast forward nearly a year, and the Barcelona chief has been proved wrong.
Deulofeu is currently on loan at Watford and their appears to be no way back for him.
Salah, meanwhile, could propel Liverpool to a first piece of silverware since 2012 - when Kenny Dalglish ruled the roost.
The Egypt star is being linked with a blockbuster move to Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Yet speaking last month, Jurgen Klopp insisted his star performer would be staying at Anfield.
"It's not the situation where I would even think about it," said Klopp, when asked if Salah could leave.
"Mo Salah came in nine months ago to make the next step in his career and he did it. To come to Liverpool, he had different options and he wanted to come here, so if we always start talking after a year 'will he leave' - I don't think about it.
"I'm confident. I think, no I don't think, I know he will be here.
"We don't want change all the time. We have a big chance here to create something for the future. My impression at the moment is they are all excited about being in this group.
