MANCHESTER UNITED star Nemanja Matic has been named by Yaya Toure as the toughest opponent he’s faced
Matic has forged a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top defensive midfielders during his spells at Chelsea and United.
And since returning to England in 2014 he’s enjoyed his fair share of duels against a number of big-name opponents.
Matic and Toure have gone head-to-head on a number of occasions as they’ve looked to take control of the midfield.
And Toure, who’s set to leave Manchester United’s rivals Manchester City, has now paid the Serbian a huge - if unusual - compliment.
"I hate him, this bastard!" said Toure, when discussing facing Matic.
"He's such a difficult player to play against. Tall and strong as well.
"It's been fun to play against him, even though it's difficult. He's powerful, he's tall.
"To be able to find an opponent to play against me and stop me... there's few of them, but Matic was one of the close ones who was able to give me problems.
"He can run. He can fall back. He can track. He can fight. He's a good, good player."
Toure also revealed the best player he’s played alongside during his time at Manchester City is Sergio Aguero.
"Everybody knows I have a feeling for Aguero," he added. "I love Aguero.
"This guy is such a good striker. He's complete.
"I love David Silva and Vincent Kompany as well."
