LIVERPOOL will intensify their efforts to sign Lyon star Nabil Fekir, according to reports,Fekir has been continually linked with a move to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp seeks to strengthen his squad to bridge the gap to Manchester City.
At Lyon, Fekir has become one of the hottest properties in Europe and a move for the playmaker would be seen as a direct replacement for Philippe Coutinho after he joined Barcelona in a deal worth £142million in January.
Although Klopp will be bringing Naby Keita to Anfield in July, he’s not prepared to rest on his laurels.
Reports earlier this week indicated that talks have been planned for Fekir.
And according to the Daily Telegraph, negotiations over a £60million deal will ‘speed up’ next week.
The Reds are hoping to prove they are a force to be reckoned with on and off the pitch.
The Telegraph claim Reds chiefs are confident of striking a deal for the 24-year-old.
Despite the speculation surrounding Fekir, Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas downplayed talk and is adamant clubs will have to be ‘very rich’ to sign him.
“There has been no contact with Liverpool or any other club so we haven’t discussed the future,” Aulas said.
“I know that Nabil, now that we have qualified for the Champions’ League, would really like to stay, so we will discuss things calmly.
"He has magnificently won the right to go to Russia with France, which gives him an even higher standing.
"For the moment, nothing is done.
"You will have to be very, very rich to sign Nabil Fekir this year.”
