Buvac has decided to take a break from Liverpool for the remainder of the season.
Reports claim there has been a falling out with long-term colleague and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, but this has been denied.
And today Buvac has emerged as a leading candidate with the bookies to replacing outgoing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
But Ferdinand cannot see why the Bosnian would leave at this point of the season, with a potential Champions League final to play, and believes it must be a personal issue.
“Yeah I think it probably is (people adding two and two and getting five),” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
"To come out of this situation at this time of the season, in such an important part of the season, their friendship as you can see there is so tight, in each other’s pockets, working together so closely, to come out right now it only says one thing to me and that must be personal issues.”
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, who tonight confirmed he is in talks to take the Rangers job, agrees with Ferdinand.
“I think at the moment it is speculation in terms of the No 2,” Gerrard said
“It must be personal reasons because of the timing. With a couple of games to go it must be.”
Buvac has been Klopp's assistant as Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.
Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri is also a frontrunner to replace Wenger.
