MANCHESTER CITY striker Sergio Aguero has drawn the ire of the Spanish media for his insistence his relationship with Pep Guardiola is “good”.
Aguero scored 21 Premier League goals this season as Manchester City cantered to the title.
But the Argentine’s future has been in doubt ever since Gabriel Jesus joined the club in January 2017.
Talk of a rift between Aguero and his manager Guardiola have circulated in recent months, although everything seemed amicable as the striker headed off to Argentina’s World Cup camp at the end of the domestic season.
Aguero was asked on Spanish TV show El Chiringuito TV is he was happy with Guardiola.
He said: “Guardiola? Well, we were very clear when we saw each other. I do my job and he does his job.
“With me it is always good, in the end I’m happy for how the season ended.
“The club is happy and so am I. I will try to continue fulfilling the years that I have a contract left.”
But despite Aguero’s insistence, none of the pundits on El Chiringuito TV seemed to believe him.
Anchor Josep Pedrerol oversaw the discussion, where some of Spain’s top pundits dismissed Aguero’s comments.
City are expected to once again spend big in the transfer window this summer as Guardiola eyes the Champions League next season.
