Zidane stunned the footballing world by calling a press conference on Thursday to announce his resignation.
It's left Real Madrid hunting a manager to replace him with Mauricio Pochettino the club's top choice.
However, a survey conducted by Spanish newspaper Marca has found they instead want Liverpool boss Klopp.
The German picked up 29 per cent of support in a poll which had received 45,000 votes.
That was a bigger return than Mauricio Pochettino, who had 23 per cent, while Castilla coach Guti picked up 20 per cent.
Joachim Low returned 14 per cent, Michel had nine per cent and five per cent of fans wanted none of the shortlisted options.
Pochettino hinted he could be ready to leave Tottenham by insisting "you have to listen" when Real Madrid come calling.
The Argentinian is the preferred candidate for the Spanish club's president Florentino Perez after Zinedine Zidane's resignation this week.
Coincidentally, Pochettino is in Spain promoting the launch of his autobiography 'Brave New World' and when inevitably quizzed about the link, he left the door open on a possible move.
"When Madrid call you, you have to listen," he said. The stumbling block, as he went on to admit, is that he has just signed a new five-year contract at Tottenham worth £8.5million-a-year.
That is a £42.5m commitment that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will see no reason to negotiate. Crucially, despite his ambitions, Pochettino is unlikely to challenge that stance. "I live in the present, there is nothing more important than that," he said yesterday.
He then told El Confidential: "In this case it doesn't depend on me - I have just signed a long contract at Tottenham and I'm very happy there.
"We are all growing together. Now I want to focus on planning the next season and keep a distance from everything that is being talked about."
Germany boss Joachim Low was more definitive about his links to the Real job. "I can completely rule it out," he said.
