Liverpool will challenge Arsenal for Borussia Dortmund star Mario Gotze, according to the bookies.
The Germany international has been plagued by injury over the past three years having been diagnosed with a metabolic disease.
But 23 appearances for the senior side last season has seen interest in the 26-year-old explode.
Director of trading Ian Marmion said: “The golden boy of the 2014 World Cup, Mario Gotze looks poised for a Premier League switch this summer.
“Liverpool have emerged as the outright favourites at 5/2 to snatch the attacker this summer after the German described Jurgen Klopp as his ‘footballing father’.
“The 26-year-old could be the ideal replacement for the Reds’ previous transfer target Nabil Fekir and a reunion with his former manager at Anfield next season looks like a strong possibility. Arsenal are available at 12/1."
Nabil Fekir blow
Nabil Fekir’s week is set to go from bad to worse - if a report in the French press is to be believed.
Fekir, 24, missed out on a dream move to Liverpool at the weekend after problems with his medical.
And according to French news outlet Maison du Foot, Fekir will now be left out the France side by Didier Deschamps.
France take on Australia in their World Cup opener on Saturday but it's claimed Fekir won’t play.
Maison du Foot say the playmaker will be left out because France aren’t going to play with a ‘real number 10’, like Fekir is.
Instead, France will use a 4-3-3 formation with Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe up front.
